A patient with just a few months to live has been cured of cancer by a new drug

London: A dying cancer patient tried a new immunotherapy drug and is now completely cancer free.

Robert Glenn, 51, was suffering from advanced stage bile duct cancer and doctors had given him just 12 months to live. However, they are among the lucky ones to be tested by Manchester company Christie's new immunotherapy.

In 2020, Robert developed severe shoulder pain that became more painful every day, which led to countless medical tests and eventually revealed cancer in the bile duct from the liver to the gallbladder. Even he was in the last stage of the disease which only leads to death.

The full name of his cancer is Intrahepatic Bile Duct Cancer, whose patients, although few, can hardly live for two to four years. Due to this shock, he became depressed and lost 31 kg weight. The Christie company tested a brand new immunotherapy with chemotherapy, with surprising results.

Robert's cancerous liver tumor shrunk from 12 cm to just 2.5 cm, while the adrenal gland tumor shrunk from 7 cm to 1.4 cm. In just over a year, he began to recover and now three months of continuous tests have confirmed that he is completely cancer free.

On the other hand, Christie-affiliated Professor Juan Valle said that trials of the same new therapy are ongoing around the world and it is expected to be a revolutionary discovery.
